Built in public

Bingey is being built one phase at a time. Here’s what exists so far, newest first.

  1. Phase 5

Teases, share cards, and the polish pass

The spoiler gate protects you, but on its own it's purely defensive. Teases make it pull you forward: you can see that someone reacted at 22:07 and who they are — just not what they said. Catching up became the point.

    • Locked teases for reactions ahead of your progress
    • Share cards so Bingey links preview properly in iMessage and X
    • Suggested people to follow during onboarding
    • Mobile pass: bigger tap targets, no more thumb-sized delete buttons
    • This changelog, and a feedback form that doesn't need an account
  2. Phase 4

    It became social

Following people turned a personal log into a feed. Every reaction in it is still gated against your own progress, so following someone three seasons ahead of you is safe.

    • Follow and unfollow, with follower counts
    • A feed of reactions from people you follow
    • A currently-watching strip: who's on what, right now
  3. Phase 3

    The whole point

Reactions anchored to an exact moment, and a spoiler gate enforced in the database rather than the interface. Post "at 14:32 — holy shit" and only people who've reached 14:32 will ever see it. It's covered by tests, because it's the one thing that cannot be allowed to break.

    • Timestamped reactions on any episode
    • The spoiler gate, enforced at the database level
    • Reaction feeds per show and per profile
  4. Phase 2

    Keeping track

Bingey needed to be useful before anyone else showed up. Track where you are in a show, log what you've finished, and get a profile that's a genuine record of your media diet.

    • Mark shows as currently watching
    • Track your exact episode and timestamp
    • Public profiles with watch history
  5. Phase 1

    Accounts and the catalog

Sign-in, and every TV show ever made, via TMDB.

    • Email and Google sign-in
    • Search any show; browse seasons and episodes
  6. Phase 0

A landing page and a promise

A domain, a waitlist, and one sentence: connection on your own time.
